SFC System file Check auf XP und 98


Over in the Windows forum, dretde asks: "My older PC has Win 98SE, and I have taught myself a lot about it from scratch. There is something called System File Checker (located in System Tools | System Information). I really find this an excellent tool to keep my PC in top shape. I make it a part of my routine maintenance. I am unable to find this useful tool in XP. Is there anything like File Checker in XP?" 

Sipowicz answers, "You will have to run it from the command prompt. Type in 'SFC /Scannow' or type in 'SFC '(with a space in there, I think) and it will show different options to choose from. Some other differences from Win98: no BSOD, stability, faster, and no reformats unless you cause the problem. You will like it." [Jim and his Hosting Special]
